How To Update:

Newbyte update files are FREE updates to the latest version of Newbyte Software.

These updates only contain the newest .exe file (Windows Only) and so can not run unless you have the other graphics files.

Each update is listed with its compilation date and its earliest required version number.

If your version is earlier than the one required you will need to purchase an upgrade disk or CD. Some of these updates are free while others may cost between 50% - 75% of the cost of a full version. Please ring, fax or email us at newbyte@newbyte.com for your upgrade price.

Upgrades which you purchase are substantial, include new Teacher Resources and Student worksheets and are well worth the cost.

Check the date of your current exe file and the version number before you download the update.

The update file can be downloaded either as a zip file or a binary exe file (in some cases) ready for use.

NOTE: you must copy the exe (or unzipped exe) file into your current directory for the program you are updating.

WARNING:
It is always a good idea to virus check any exe file (even a zipped one) downloaded from the web before running it.

Steps to uploading your update.

(1) Click on the file exe or zip button you wish to update. I suggest you copy it directly into the correct Newbyte directory on your hard disk. For example copy the DrosLab6.exe or DrosLab6.zip into the c:/Newbyte/Drosophila Genetics Lab directory.

(2) If you have download the zip file - unzip it using WINZIP or any other utility.

(3) Check the new exe file for viruses using VET any other utility.

(4) Run the program normally.
